Vitamin D is needed for the normal growth and development of bones in children. The HSE recommends that you give your baby 5 micrograms of vitamin D3 as a supplement every day from birth to 12 months if they are:

 

Breastfed

Taking less than 300mls or 10 fluid oz (ounces) of infant formula a day

 

All babies who are being breastfed should continue to get a vitamin D supplement after birth, even if you took vitamin D during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

How to use

BabyVitD3 can be given directly to the baby in the mouth or on a small spoon.

The recommended dosage is 2 drops per day.

Do not exceed the recommended dosage of 2 drops per day except where recommended to do so by a doctor or healthcare professional.

If you miss a dose of BabyVitD3 just carry on as normal the following day; do not give a double dose.

If the dropper becomes soiled or touches the baby’s mouth it should be re-sterilized.

 

Storage

BabyVitD3 should be stored at normal temperature and out of direct sunlight. Use within 6 months after opening.
